What is Lawn Care?

What is lawn care? The first step is to define, and the second step is to define what lawn care is not.

Lawn care means many things to many people, yet in the industry of lawn applications(be it synthetic or organic) the term often refers to a six or seven-step lawn treatment, which includes crabgrass preventer, fertilization, weed control, iron treatments, Et. al.

Most companies, or do-it-yourselfers have these programs set up on schedule, usually spaced about two months between treatments. The treatments may vary slightly according to which area you live in because weather temperature differences. For example, crabgrass preventer may be applied at a slightly different time if you live in the North rather than the South, since spring arrives at different rates.

Okay, now. What lawn care is not? Duh. This sounds like a no-brainer, yet many people confuse lawn care with--total care. A big fallacy. Lawn care is not mowing(though it could mean that to some), lawn care is not watering, lawn care is not planting or pruning bushes.

The point, when you hire a comapany, do not think that since you have a company wroking in a particular sector that this is a panacea(cure all); it's not, so please do not expect it.

As simple as it seems, many customers think that after seeding and aeration, they can rest on their laurels since they have a company applying lawn treatments. Yes, people are that naive, shamefully.

If you need water, and you will, hire a professional irrigation installer to install an irrigation systems in your lawn, emphasize--professional. ...and have them to show you how to program the computer module.

The point is, do not pick the phone up and low-rate your lawn care company for the steps you failed to follow, and things beyond the company's purview.

And please follow the suggestions your lawn-care comapny may offer--to the T. You will find a greener lawn and a happier you.

Be reasonable, and don't expect what you have not done or paid for during the course of your lawn-care treatments.

Another tip: Can I do it myself? Well, yes you can, but is it really cost and time effective. And the answer is usually--NO. Sub. what is done best to those who do it best.

May you have a happier, heathier green lawn this year many subsequent years.
